This report was drafted by Dr Erica Gadsby, Nuffield Centre for International Health and Development, University of Leeds. WHO Country Office focal persons for Information, Research and Knowledge Management are also acknowledged for their contribution in coordinating the surveys in countries. Their counterparts in Ministries of Health are also acknowledged. These surveys would not have been possible without the active participation of the head of health research institutions and their department heads who have given their time and effort to fill out and send back the completed modules and questionnaires.
