Advanced Tuberculosis Diagnostic Research: an intensive, high-level course on TB diagnostic research methods
This advanced course will cover the principles behind diagnostic research, diagnostic study designs, sources of bias, and value chain for TB diagnostics development. Also, critical appraisal of diagnostic studies, and conventional and advanced methods for systematic reviews (meta-analyses) of diagnostic tests will be presented, along with the GRADE approach to diagnostic policies.

New vaccines for global health
Recent advances in knowledge of pathogen genomics and of innate immunity provide exceptional opportunities for the development of new vaccines. Development of effective vaccines against some major killers such as HIV, malaria and tuberculosis has proved challenging but progress is being made and many new vaccines have reached the stage of clinical trials. Development of vaccines against some non- infectious diseases is also making progress. This meeting will review opportunities to design, develop and deploy the new vaccines urgently needed to meet global health priorities.

7th Anti-Infectives Partnering & Deal-making Summit
GTCbio's 2010 7th Annual Anti-infectives Partnering and Deal-Making Summit taking places on October 7-8, 2010 in Boston will contribute to the on-going battle against the ever-changing infectious threats by having experts with direct experiences in the field discuss a wide variety of topics on infectious diseases. These topics will include reviews of both established and emerging classes of anti-infectives (including antibacterials , antifungals and anti-virals), a US perspective on the regulatory challenges in addition to subjects including portfolio value management, license revenue and patent extension strategies and much more. The agenda also allows time for networking and opportunities to interface with speakers and fellow delegates in a collegial setting. Previous GTCBio conferences have been catalytic to several successful partnerships and in 2010 we expect this trend to continue.

Neglected Protozoan Diseases: Prevention, Treatment and Control of Leishmaniasis, Trypanosomiasis and Chagas disease
This colloquium will bring together scientists who are interested in research on neglected protozoan diseases. The meeting will gather 8 major research projects funded by the European Commission (EC) under the 7th Framework Programme (FP7) in the area of neglected infectious diseases. The programme will be a combination of 1) keynote lectures by leaders in the field about the latest scientific developments; 2) presentation of the 8 EC funded research consortia with their latest cutting-edge research results, and 3) poster sessions presenting new research on protozoan diseases.
